As a Batch Developer, you will be part of an agile, cross-functional team
Together with your international team, you will take over end-to-end ownership for various business applications, contribute to world-wide rollouts and guarantee stable solutions.
You will be allocated to development or production activities, responsible for the technical design and implementation of our PL/1-based business applications. Taking end-to-end responsibility of your product, you will also contribute to development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation of our applications, as well as work with our DevOps engineers to guarantee stable environments and deliver highly reliable, fault-tolerant solutions. You will support quality engineering, maintain program libraries and technical documentation, and provide enhancements to our deployed applications.
Batch Development opportunities are available for candidates of All Levels of Experience.
Main Responsibilities:
- Align with respective product owner and team members to understand the business requirements of our customers
- Design and Implement Batch applications in PL/1
- Consult and Support customers, in terms of the implementation of our software (Allianz Business System)
- Utilize extension patterns offered by our development frameworks properly in order to customize, replace and extend existing functionalities
- Be eager to proactively expand knowledge regarding technologies that help to contribute to the delivery of our technical solutions
Requirements
- Very Good Knowledge/Practical Experience working with PL1 – OR –
- Very Good Knowledge/Practical Experience working with COBOL / Fortran, with the willingness to learn PL1
- Basic Knowledge about Linux as an OS, standard Linux commands (e.g. vi editor, grep, sudo, netstat, )
- Practical Experience with version management systems (e.g. GIT, )
- Sense of ownership and pride in performance and its impact on success
- Resourceful mindset and problem-solving attitude
- Team-minded attitude with great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Flexibility to travel (depending on restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, preferably once a month to delivery centers or clients)
Nice to have
- Good Knowledge of Java concepts (e.g. Interfaces, Abstract Classes, Generics, Thread, TDBC, Collections Framework, Exception Handling, )
- Practical Experience developing Java-based applications
- Practical Experience debugging Java code (preferably in Eclipse IDE)
- Practical Experience with OOP Concepts (Encapsulation, Inheritance vs. Delegation, Access Operators, Simple Design Patterns (e.g., GoF, ))
- Practical Experience with technical documentation of batch processes (preferably in Rochade)
